A 100-year-old factory is reborn as an “open-air architectural museum”: EKA Tianwu in Jinqiao, Pudong is reshaping the logic of urban renewal.
The project covers an area of more than 40 thousand square meters, 1500 of which will be dedicated to Arte Laguna Prize artists. Originally established by the 1869 Pudong Customs Factory, the space was later leased by Jiayun Investment. After the investment and renovation, it began to attract investment and become an integral part of the business in the market.
EKA
“EKA” comes from Sanskrit and originally means ‘one’ and “unknown element”, and the terms combines Exploration (exploration of new things against the grain), Knowledge (craftsmanship) and Aesthetics (community of aesthetics).
The goal of the project is to restore space for man and nature to coexist together in a place that can respect both elements.
“Beauty coexists and each has its own beauty,” and so the design of each building is different from the other. With more than 40 buildings integrating cultures from various countries and various design styles, EKA Tianwu becomes a museum of architecture that with strong continuity hosts unique and creative projects.
